How Nicotine is defined in Vape Juice

How Nicotine is defined in Vape Juice products:

Ever wonder how nicotine levels are measured or added to vape juice? This brief article explains How Nicotine Is Defined In Vape Juice by manufacturers. How nicotine concentrations are measured and added to their product lines.

Here’s all the math you need.

How does nicotine levels in vape juice compare to cigarettes?

Non nicotine: 0 mg nicotine, which equivalents to No Nicotine.
– Low density: 3 mg & 6 mg nicotine, which equivalents to Light Strength Cigarettes.
– Medium density: 12 mg nicotine, which equivalents to Medium Strength Cigarettes.
– High density: 18 mg nicotine, which equivalents to High Strength Cigarettes.
– XHigh density: 24 mg nicotine, which equivalents to Strong Cigarettes.

The nicotine density listed in vape juice is the number of milligrams of nicotine per milliliter. This means a 10ml bottle of 18mg nicotine e-juice would have 180mg of nicotine in it (18mg x 10ml). Likewise, a 30ml bottle of 18mg e-juice would have 540mg of nicotine in it (18mg x 30ml).
Furthermore, Cigarettes brands vary in nicotine content. Normally, nicotine constitutes approximately 0.6-3.0% of dry weight of tobacco in a cigarette.

Example:
If you smoke Regular cigarettes, there is approximately 1.2mg of nicotine in each cigarette, or 24mg of nicotine per pack (1.2mg x 20 cigarettes).
If you smoke Light cigarettes, there is approximately 0.7mg of nicotine in each cigarette, or 14mg of nicotine per pack (0.7mg x 20 cigarettes).
If you smoke Ultra Light cigarettes, there is approximately 0.5mg of nicotine in each cigarette, or 10mg of nicotine per pack (0.5mg x 20 cigarettes).

When refilling a vape pen cartridge or tank with vape juice, how much nicotine is contained in the liquid tank?
There is approximately 20 drops of e-juice per ML, using the 18mg nicotine e-juice formula above as an example, there would be 1.2mg of nicotine per drop (18mg/20 drops).

In other words, if you put three drops of e-juice into your vape pen, you will be inhaling approx 3.6mg of nicotine.
Your Tank Capacity = 1.6ml
1.2mg of Nicotine per Drop
20 Drops of e-juice = 1ml
1.6 ml Capacity X 20 drops = 32.00 Drops
32 Drops X 1.2 = 38.40mg

Based on the above, there is 38.40mg of nicotine at 18mg Strength in a 1.6ml Capacity E-Cig Tank Unit,
The amount of, including the feeling of nicotine being absorbed by the body from using a vape pen depends on other factors, including the density of the nicotine in e-juice, the electronic cigarette vapor quantity, the vaping frequency and amount being inhaled. Not all vape juice can be absorbed completely by the user.
For example, if you inhale 1 ml of e-juice containing 18mg of nicotine that does not mean that you absorbed all 18mg of nicotine? Instead, you may have only absorb about 40-65% of the nicotine according to your habit. ie: length of draw, amount you draw-in etc. Also, you could equate this to the question, “Does everyone smoke cigarettes the same way”? The answer is of-course, “No”.
